Walking through the ruins of the Colosseum, I was arrested when I saw these repeating squared doorways. Anytime I see repeating designs in structures, I am always struck by their form and function. These doorways were probably meant to support the upper level of seats and walkways. It was pure luck that I managed to capture a single lady walking across the last visible doorway. I will always wonder what she was focusing on as she explored this marvel of ancient engineering.
